The Matrix 4 might be one of the last films to cease production due to the coronavirus outbreak but it might also be the first one to get back into action. A new report suggests that the highly anticipated cyberpunk sequel is already preparing to resume filming in July.

Variety reveals that Warner Bros. is already hoping that The Matrix 4 will go back into production by early next month. Interestingly, the outlet cited several sources who confirmed that the cast of the sequel has signed eight-week extensions that should keep them on hold until July 6. With that in mind, there is a good chance that the cast and crew will soon resume filming on the movie.

The Matrix 4 has already started production in February in California and filming has been moved to Berlin when it was announced that all major productions needed to be put on hold due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Nevertheless, it looks like everyone involved with the movie is eager to get back into work soon.

They will be joined by new cast members Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Eréndira Ibarra, Andrew Caldwell, Brian J. Smith, and Ellen Hollman.

The Matrix 4 is currently scheduled for release on May 21, 2021.
