Thanos' universe-altering snap in Avengers: Infinity War happened over three years ago but it's still a topic of discussion within the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom. For years, fans have blamed only one character for the events that transpired in the Marvel blockbuster and it's none other than Peter Quill aka Star-Lord. However, one Marvel director believes a different hero should be blamed for the Mad Titan's initial triumph.

Director Nia DaCosta is a self-confessed fanatic of the billion-dollar franchise and everything comes full circle for her as she was tapped to direct the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels. In an interview with Inverse, DaCosta made a bold statement about Thanos' Infinity War snap, claiming that everyone's fingers should be pointed at Steve Rogers aka Captain America.

According to DaCosta, Rogers' decision to keep Vision alive was instrumental in Thanos' victory and surprisingly enough, she stands by her opinion. She explains: "Something I like to say a bit flippantly about Captain America is that the Snap is all his fault because he was trying to do his best, trying to do the right thing. There is a world in which he’s a villain because, at the end of the day, he should have just sacrificed Vision. He chose one robot’s life, albeit a sentient one, over literally the entire universe. There’s a sort of anti-hero in that if you want to look at it through that lens."

DaCosta raises a pretty valid argument when you think about it but Cap's decision to not sacrifice Vision is textbook Captain America. He'd rather lose the fight by sacrificing himself than see his teammates get taken down. Obviously, that didn't pay off and there were still casualties following the events of Avengers: Endgame but still, the Earth's Mightiest Heroes won the battle.

Chris Evans is rumored to have signed a new Marvel deal earlier this year. Meanwhile, you can watch Avengers: Infinity War on Disney+.
