The entire Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom was shaken to its very core when it was reported by several sources that most, if not all of Marvel Studios' upcoming Phase Four projects are getting pushed back to later dates. Disney confirmed that the rescheduling has something to do with the production side of things and not the box office performance as initially speculated by fans.

Marvel's 2022 slate would've kicked off in March with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which is now eyeing a May 6th, 2022 release date. Turns out, the highly anticipated team-up film between Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen is experiencing some serious production problems concerning the film's story.

According to tipster Grace Randolph, Multiverse of Madness will undergo "extensive reshoots to fix significant story issues." The specifics weren't discussed but it'll be interesting to see if Olsen, who is currently filming her upcoming HBO Max series Love and Death will be involved in the said reshoots.

I don't know about you but I feel like the release date delay for Multiverse of Madness will end up being beneficial for the project. Not only does it avert the potential disaster of going head-to-head with DC's The Batman which quite frankly has more fans intrigued, but it also gives the studio plenty of time to work on the things that need improving. It's also a blessing in disguise for the film's marketing team because promotions for the film will be extended. It's still a win-win situation for everyone involved, all things considered.
