The Mandalorian Teases Major Star Wars Rebels Easter Egg for Season 2

The good news is, the final episode of The Mandalorian Season 1 is out. The bad news is, that means that the first season is over. However, that doesn't mean that the Disney+ series didn't leave people wanting more. Chapter 8: Redemption just featured an amazing Star Wars Rebels Easter Egg that's pretty hard to miss.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from The Mandalorian Season 1 Episode 8. Proceed with caution.

In Chapter 8, Moff Gideon tried everything in his powers to get his hands on Baby Yoda. At one point, he almost succeeds by wounding Din Djarin (that's Mando to you) although IG-11 was able to help the bounty hunter. Although Mando and his allies find a way out, Gideon confronts them with a TIE Fighter (yes, AN ACTUAL TIE FIGHTER). Luckily, Mando uses his new jetpack to blow up one of the fighter's wings, giving him and Baby Yoda enough time to escape.

But does this mean that Gideon has been defeated for good? Amazingly, the villain manages to cut his way out of the ruins of the TIE Fighter. His weapon of choice? A lightsaber with an odd black light.

That's right, Gideon has a darksaber and it looks a lot like the one Sabine Wren wields in Star Wars Rebels. We're not sure if this is the same one that appears in the animated series but it could mean that Gideon has major connections to the Mandalorians. Needless to say, we're already looking forward to seeing more of the weapon in The Mandalorian Season 2.

The final episode of The Mandalorian Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney+.
