The Mandalorian Star Giancarlo Esposito Spills New Details About His Character

Jon Favreau's new Star Wars: The Mandalorian is releasing along with the launch of Disney's streaming site, Disney+, later this year and it looks like fans are getting to learn more about the highly anticipated Star Wars series.

Speaking at this year's Television Critics Association Panel (via CBR), Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito decided to give away a few details about the mysterious character that he's set to play in The Mandalorian.

"In a way, you might call him an underworld character," the actor said, "You may also look at him as a savior, as someone who might bring back some order to the world after it's all collapsed."

An underworld character shouldn't come much of a surprise considering that The Mandalorian is going to take place in the outer rim of Star Wars galaxy far, far away. But seeing him as a savior in a bleak planet does sound kind of interesting.

During his talk in the Television Critics Association Panel, Esposito also revealed that his scenes were filmed in "The Volume" a method which was used for the Na'vi in the production of Avatar in 2009.

"It could suggest that," he added. "We are working in The Volume. It's a very specific atmosphere and quite fascinating to work in. I don't want to spoil anything for you but that does suggest I might have a different persona. Who knows?"

It seems like Esposito's character may either be a complicated humanoid or very alien in terms of physique. Hopefully, we get to see Esposito's character as the series approaches its release.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian releases on Nov. 12, 2019, on Disney+.
