Star Wars Episode IX: Artist Rendering of the New Rocket Trooper

Every new Star Wars film always brings in a new kind of stormtrooper, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be giving us these jetpack-wearing rocket troopers. We don't have an official look at this new trooper variant yet, but u/axeintheface on Reddit has come up with this mock-up based on a leaked LEGO Minifigure.

Of course, it's possible that the trooper can still look entirely different in the movie, but based on what we got in the LEGO figure, this does seem kind of accurate.

This is just part of my speculation, but the lines around torso piece are kind of reminiscent of the ones in the new Sith trooper, and I'm curious if these rocket troopers are actually part of the First Order or the elite Sith troopers.

If anything, this is the first time we get rocket troopers onscreen. They're present in Star Wars Battlefront II, but they don't look anywhere near this new design. Hopefully, they get added to the game when the movie comes out in December.

For now, it looks like Lucasfilm is preparing their big Episode IX reveal in next month's upcoming D23 Expo. Everyone is hoping we finally get a full trailer for The Rise of Skywalker, and we're also crossing our fingers that they finally release a trailer and sneak peek for Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian which comes to Disney+ this November.

Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker when it hits theaters Dec. 20.
