There are rumors recently that Lucasfilm is considering turning the fourth season of The Mandalorian into a feature film due to the production delay caused by the ongoing Hollywood strikes although the studio did not confirm the report.

Nevertheless, it became a major conversation that spread amongst the Star Wars fandom and it caused some concerns surrounding the future of the series, especially given that the third season received mixed reviews.

It is also reportedly going to be another feature film that is separate from the planned MandoVerse event film that will be directed by Dave Filoni and will potentially release around 2026.

As fans continue to speculate the future of the hit series, we finally have the clarification surrounding this rumor and, fortunately, it looks like fans should have nothing to worry about.

Reported Jeff Sneider debunked on The Hot Mic podcast the rumors surrounding Lucasfilm's plan to turn the fourth season of The Mandalorian into a feature film.

He assured the audience that he heard from his sources that The Mandalorian will remain as a TV series in the upcoming fourth season.

"Season 4 of The Mandalorian? No, it’s not true. It’s definitely a season of television and not a movie," Sneider said in response to the rumor.

This should clarify and assure fans that the fourth season will continue as a TV series after all and they no longer need to be concerned surrounding its future.

In retrospect, it really does not make any sense that the series will turn into a feature film since it would require Lucasfilm to do a major rework on their scripts and restart the development process from scratch.

While it is great to hear that the rumor is not true after all, it should also be pointed out that the current strikes have caused a massive delay surrounding all major productions across Hollywood and we won't see a significant update on the fourth season of The Mandalorian until it releases.

For now, let's wait and see how Lucasfilm will move forward with the fourth season once the strike hopefully ends in the near future.

All three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
