It's hard to imagine The Mandalorian dividing the Star Wars fandom, especially after the beloved show delivered two banger seasons that pretty much redeemed the franchise as a whole.

However, Season 3 failed to hit the mark with viewers, and up until now, fans are still on the fence about whether or not they actually liked the creative direction Jon Favreau went with.

The biggest issue fans had with the third season is Din Djarin seemingly taking the back seat in favor of Bo-Katan Kryze's Mandalore redemption arc. Now, Katee Sackhoff is addressing the backlash her character's ascension received and explains why it had to happen.

Speaking with The Wrap with co-star Carl Weathers, Sackhoff broke down Bo-Katan's upgraded role in Season 3, saying that she knew from the get-go that it would disappoint fans of the show.

She explains: "This was a hard season. I knew that some people would be disappointed that it felt like Mando wasn’t the focus. But ultimately, I think what had to happen is that for this story as a whole to progress, you had to understand who the Mandalorians were at their core because then you wouldn’t have to go back to it and answer unanswered questions."

She added: "You could just move forward with the Mandalorians as part of the story. And the only way to do that was to go back to a character who was part of and responsible for the destruction of Mandalore. That would then help you get to where you needed to go moving forward in season 4 of Mandalorian and then the other shows. I was nervous."

It's worth noting that the show's creatives already confirmed that The Mandalorian no longer revolves around Din Djarin so I guess fans will just have to deal with it.

All three seasons of The Mandalorian are available to stream on Disney+.
