The Mandalorian: Jon Favreau Offers Exciting Update on Season 4

Even though it is still a year away, there's a lot of anticipation right now for the third season of The Mandalorian, especially after the exclusive footage that was shown to the Star Wars Celebration attendees which teased Din Djarin's upcoming journey in Mandalore. There are fans who are wondering about the show's longevity and now it looks like we are going to expect a fourth season of the series.

Speaking recently with CinemaBlend, The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau was asked about the growing number of shows set after the events of Return of the Jedi to which he revealed that he has already started writing the fourth season of the show.

"With television, we're very lucky that we don't have to rush things through into an hour-and-a-half, two hours. We get to tell stories slowly," he said. "So now, as Dave [Filoni]'s doing Ahsoka, it's very much informing the writing that I'm doing for [The Mandalorian] Season 4. It becomes – how should I put it – more precise."

This is the very first time that Favreau acknowledged that they have begun working on the fourth season. In a separate interview with Collider, Favreau also addressed the endgame that they are planning for the series and how the events of the New Republic era inform their future storyline as well as the time period that they are going to end the series.

"I think Dave and I talked about this a lot. And, it’s interesting how things evolve and change in small ways, but we all know where everything’s going to end because of when the time period ends," he said. "We know that the First Order is going to appear. So, there are things on the horizon that we know, but that’s 25 years in the future. Within that, we also know storylines that are going to unfold within the characters that we’re either inheriting or developing. So, I would say that there is a lot of preparation done in broad strokes with how do these storylines that we’ve established culminate, but we’re doing that within the confines and parameters of what’s pre-existing in canon."

It is great to hear that Favreau has already started working on the fourth season which shows that they are planning the series ahead and it's also news for us who are wondering about the show's longevity. Of course, it is still a long way before we'll get to see it since the third season hasn't even aired yet. One thing's for sure is that we should be anticipating more Din Djarin adventures in years to come.
