The Mandalorian is Getting Multiple Comic Books From Marvel and IDW

Star Wars and comic books have been synonymous with each other for a long time now. Whether it's the older or current Marvel comics, the Dark Horse issues, or the kid-friendly graphic novels from IDW, the franchise from a galaxy far, far away will always please fans who like to read funny books with drawings on them. Unsurprisingly, LucasFilm has announced that Marvel and IDW will be working on comic books based on The Mandalorian.

Briefly mentioned in a press release from StarWars.com, it's not yet known who the creative teams will be for these comic books but we should probably expect an announcement sooner or later. Marvel will probably handle some of the comics fans will consider canon, while IDW is going to focus on issues geared towards younger readers ala their Star Wars Adventures line.

How IDW is going to make The Mandalorian kid-friendly is going to be interesting, to say the least. Granted, the Disney+ series is probably watched by kids and there are probably a ton of toys being worked on but keep in mind that the first episode has an alien's body getting decapitated by a door. Yikes.

We're sure that the companies involved will handle the series with care since The Mandalorian is beloved by pretty much everyone who has seen it. It's a good show and that should lend itself to good comics, maybe even great ones. We'll have to wait and see.

No release date for The Mandalorian comics has been revealed. Fans can currently stream the show's first season on Disney+.
