The Mandalorian Creator Reportedly Stops Gina Carano From Getting Fired

It must be nice. It must be nice to have Jon Favreau by your side.

The Mandalorian's Cara Dune, an ex-merc and incumbent Nevarro New Republic Marshal, portrayed by women's MMA fighter Gina Carano, has been taking fire in real life and while seeming not needing assistance, she seems to have built a strong fort as she has the creator of The Mandalorian to back her up. Jon Favreau apparently stopped Disney to fire Carano and whether or not Favreau can really do that, it seems that Carano's political beliefs would not affect her role as Cara Dune.

Gina Carano has been standing strong even with the hashtag #FireGinaCarano trending on social media for her political beliefs and position on social issues such as transphobia, the effectiveness of vaccines, and mockery of main-in votes. A recent tweet regarding the Capitol Building riots backlashed on the actress for her support of the movement. While there are haters, Carano seems unbothered and even tweeted, "You cannot silence, mute, or censor the spirit. It does not ask anyone or anything for permission to exist." Carano's strong personality seems, as showcased in The Mandalorian, to be branching out of her true self after all.

Even with this, Jon Favreau is not a political person and it seems that he is not one to care about the beliefs of the MMA fighter-turned-actress. And although some would not really be agreeing with her, including those from Lucasfilm, her personal life would not interfere with her character. Rumors say that Disney asked Carano to apologize, this was neither confirmed nor executed as no apology was issued by Carano.

The issue is not one-sided all throughout. There are still fans and supporters who've got Carano's back with #WeLoveCaraDune or #IStandWithGinaCarano. Favreau is not the first one to support Carano, Pedro Pascal, who plays Din Djarin, supported Carano by praising her portrayal of Cara Dune.

With the issue at hand, it must really be nice to have the series creator himself by your side.
