The Man Who Fell to Earth Trailer Unveils Chiwetel Ejiofor as the Titular Alien

One of the most beloved science-fiction novels of all time is The Man Who Fell to Earth by author Walter Tevis. The beloved novel has been adapted into a film twice including most notably the 1976 Nicolas Roeg feature starring the late David Bowie. Now, the story is being adapted to the screen again and, this time, as a television series.

Showtime has released the official trailer for the upcoming science fiction series The Man Who Fell to Earth. Inspired by the novel and the 1976 film, it will follow a new alien character named Faraday (played by Doctor Strange star Chiwetel Ejiofor) who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future. You can view the trailer here:

Based on the trailer, it looks like the series will be more of a follow-up to the story of the novel and the 1976 film especially since we see Thomas Jerome Newton (now played by Pirates of the Caribbean star Bill Nighy) as someone who has been in Earth for a long time and it looks like the purpose of Ejiofor's character is to continue what he started 40 years ago. The series looks like it's going to be an interesting watch that could potentially explore some contemplative science-fiction ideas. Of course, it remains to be seen if it will be as great as the 1976 film.

The series also stars Naomie Harris (Venom: Let There Be Carnage), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Prodigy), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Clarke Peters (Da 5 Bloods), Sonya Cassidy, Joana Ribeiro, and Annelle Olaleye. It is executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet, John Hlavin, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rola Bauer, and Françoise Guyonnet.
