The Live-Action Mega Man Movie is Still in Development

Mega Man is one of the most popular video game characters right now, with so many games for the character in various systems. For a while, it seemed like Capcom's interest in Mega Man had subsided for other big properties like Street Fighter and Resident Evil, but things have changed for the better. Mega Man 11 and the Mega Man X Legacy Collections were released last year and we're getting the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection early next year.

Interestingly enough, Capcom had recently confirmed that the live-action Mega Man movie they announced last year is still in production. This small bit of information was unveiled during the company's Financial Review via Rockman Corner. Details on this movie haven't been revealed but Capcom is hoping to get more interest in the franchise via the live-action film.

The exact statement from Capcom reads as follows:

As such, to generate synergy with its popular games via greater global brand awareness and value, the Company has been producing world-leading content, with brands such as Street Fighter and Resident Evil being made into Hollywood movies, now followed by Monster Hunter and Mega Man, which are also scheduled for live-action film adaptation.

We're going to assume that it's really early in production since no castings were announced for the film as of this writing. Monster Hunter is already in production, with a lot of the Resident Evil crew returning to work on the movie, including lead star Mila Jovovich. Hopefully, they get Mega Man right since it's pretty hard to imagine him in live-action right now.

Mega Man 11 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
