The Lion King Trailer Is Out And The Light Is Magical

Disney's certainly been busy this month. Not only has the Mickey Mouse House just recently released Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet in cinemas, it's also dropped a few new trailers for its upcoming films. Last week, we got to see the teaser for Toy Story 4 and the full trailer for Disney's live-action Dumbo. Today, it's all about the live-action Lion King.

Disney just recently released the very first trailer for its live-action remake of The Lion King during the Washington and Dallas football game's FOX NFL broadcast. In the video, fans get to see the brilliance of the opening moments of the original film where Rafiki presents a young Simba to all the animals of the Pride Lands. Meanwhile, as the quintessential image of Simba being lifted above the rock is screened, fans get to hear James Earl Jones' narrating as Mufasa.

The CGI is perfect, and somehow this live-action remake of the 1994 classic gives a whole lot of life to The Lion King. Directed by Iron Man helmsman and Star Wars: The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau, The Lion King use CGI to bring the animal cast to life in a realistic-looking way. This is Favreau's second attempt at a CGI live-action movie, the first being the successful 2016 live-action remake of The Jungle Book.

The Lion King brings together the voices of Donald Glover (Simba), Beyonce Knowles-Carter (Nala), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eicher (Timon) as well as John Oliver, John Kani, Eric Andre, Alfre Woodard, Florence Kasumba, and Shahadi Wright Joseph.

The Lion King is set to premiere on July 19, 2019.
