Workin' Moms is back for its seventh season on Netflix. And unfortunately, this also means that it is the last time we'll get to see the quirky ladies on our TV screens.

Needless to say, Workin' Moms has been a great show to binge-watch for the last five years. When Netflix first picked up the show in 2019, it was into its third season and was airing via CBC.

But giving Netflix global rights to the show helped boost its viewership. This is why the show has continued to release a new season every year since 2019.

Unfortunately, the release also means this will be the last Workin' Moms season. The show creator, Catherine Reitman, has confirmed that this will be the last season of the Canadian comedy show.

Additionally, the official logline of the show on CBC Gem reads:

“In the seventh and final season, WORKIN’ MOMS explores lasting friendships, ambitious careers, raising families, and growing up. The biggest challenge of all is striking the right balance.”

Despite its immense success over the years, Workin' Moms is coming to an end with its seventh season. But why won't there be a succeeding season?

Reitman told Variety:

"We’ve all seen a show that loses its juice and keeps puttering and re-scrambling storylines ... I didn’t want that to be the case with Workin’ Moms. Our fans have been incredibly loyal to us. I take that seriously."

So how will Reitman be ending the show? Reitman told Variety:

“The only justice I could think of for working mothers is, you just dust yourself off, you get back up and you go to work. That’s it — you get your kids set up, and you go back to work. And there was no fantasy that could better eclipse the reality of being a working mother.”

Who Does Dan Aykroyd Play in Workin’ Moms?

For Workin' Moms Season 7, Dan Aykroyd makes a return to the show as Kate Foster's (played by Catherine Reitman) late father. Aykroyd returns to the show this season as he gives Kate advice from his grave.

The final episodes of the show were intimate for Reitman, who experienced a loss after her father died just two months before filming. Reitman considered him, Ivan Reiman, as her mentor.

Reitman also shares that she wrote the episode as a love letter to her father.

“He always taught my siblings and I to find magic in life. That it wasn’t worth living unless you find your magic and commit to it and believe that you are allowed to embrace that magic. That’s my interpretation of it. I wrote the episode for my father, as Kate has to make a big decision. By of course, betting on herself, she is betting on success. But it’s hard to see that when you’re in the woods. That’s something my father always really trained me to believe in, to bet on myself and to believe in myself. And so this episode really encapsulates that.”
