The Last of Us Part II Delayed From February to May 2020

The Last of Us Part II has been delayed. Might as well get that out of the way since it's right in the title but fans are pretty sad about having to wait a bit more before they get to see how they tell Ellie's story now that she's angrier and has faced a lot of tragedy. Still, we waited a long time just for the original February release date and now we're going to have to wait until May to play this highly-anticipated sequel.

Neil Druckmann, the director of The Last of Us Part II, confirmed the news to fans via the US PlayStation Blog. Druckmann did apologize for the delay, saying that they wanted to make this game as good as it can be, which means that the developers at Naughty Dog still have more work to do.

Admittedly, there are some benefits to this since Naughty Dog won't have to compromise their vision for the game. We've all seen how games that are rushed out of the door can affect the gameplay - looking at you WWE 2K20 - so knowing that Naughty Dog will be able to create an amazing sequel after the fantastic original game, which fans should probably check out right now.

Seriously, it's free on PlayStation Plus and is only $19.99 if you aren't subscribed to the long-running online service.

Instead of February, the new release date for The Last of Us Part II will now be coming out on May 29.
