The Last of Us Remastered is Now Available for Free on PS Plus, New Teaser Released

PlayStation had just announced the release date for The Last of Us Part II, and to help hype up the game, PS Plus is offering the original Last of Us Remastered for free this month. It also comes with this new teaser showing Ellie's evolution.

In anticipation of the next chapter of Naughty Dog's epic adventure in The Last of Us Part II (coming this February 21, 2020), now is your time to jump into in The Last of Us Remastered – part of October 2019's free PS Plus lineup. Whether you have already played the game and want to relive Joel and Ellie's epic journey – or experience it for the very first time, The Last of Us Remastered has you covered with both The Last of Us and The Last of Us: Left Behind.

Winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards, The Last of Us is genre-defining experience blending survival and action elements to tell a character-driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Cities are abandoned and being reclaimed by nature. Remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a young teenage girl who's braver and wiser beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States

While the first game has Joel as the main character, the sequel will be shifting to Ellie being the protagonist. We don't really know the story in full, but it looks like she'll be out for revenge. It's also teased that Joel is alive in the sequel, but my money's on him being some kind of vision, and he's actually been dead for a while.

This is the perfect way for Sony to hype up the release of the sequel, and it's certainly a good chance for players who didn't catch the original to get caught up in the series.

The Last of Us Remastered is available for free on PS Plus from Oct. 1–Nov. 4. The Last of Us Part II comes out Feb. 21, 2021.
