The Last of Us Fans Think Abby Has Been Cast in HBO Series

HBO's The Last of Us series has just begun but it looks like people are already setting their sights on the future. For instance, fans believe that the show has already cast Abby Anderson although the character isn't expected to appear in the first season of the adaptation.

For non-gamers, Abby Anderson is a character who appears in The Last of Us II who serves as an antagonist in the second Naughty Dog title of the video game franchise. And although people will need to wait until the HBO adaptation's second season to see Abby, some fans are claiming that they have found enough evidence that could confirm Shannon Berry has been cast as Abby.

First off, The Last of Us has not yet announced the casting. However, fans are pointing out that game co-creator and series co-showrunner Neil Druckmann has started following Shannon Berry on Instagram (via Twitter). Berry herself follows Ellie actor Bella Ramsey as well as the show's official Instagram account. Moreover, Berry has previously addressed her own physical similarity to Abby.

So has The Last of Us quietly cast Shannon Berry as Abby for Season 2? For now, there haven't been any updates on the show's second season but there is little doubt that we will be hearing about a renewal really soon. By then, HBO could finally confirm the new cast that will be joining Ramsey, Pedro Pascal, Anna Torv, and Gabriel Luna.

So far, the premiere of The Last of Us has been a huge success for the network as Episode 1 is currently the second biggest debut on HBO, just trailing behind the wildly successful House of the Dragon Episode 1. With that in mind, we can't wait to see the next episodes of the new series.

The first episode of The Last of Us is currently streaming on HBO Max. The second episode, which is titled Infected, will premiere on Sunday, January 22, 2023.
