The Last of Us Fans are NOT READY For Ellie's Mall Backstory in Episode 7

The Last of Us Episode 6 may have celebrated Joel’s long-running reunion with his brother, Tommy, but The Last of Us Episode 7 is set to feature more of Ellie’s heartbreaking backstory. While showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin have been sprinkling details on Ellie’s past, non-video gamers are not yet aware of what went down with Ellie prior to the outbreak.

The naughty dog video game introduced Ellie’s background in a more intimate manner in The Last of Us: Left Behind, where we get to see how she grew up and how she was being treated at the military school for orphans. There, we meet Riley (played by Storm Reid), Ellie’s seemingly only best friend in the entire building, who we are bound to meet in the next episode. In the game, Riley’s return is to take Ellie out at the abandoned mall where they got to play at the arcades, ride the carousel, and read more comic books together. Left Behind practically established their relationship as being more than friends.
