We already know that The Last of Us Season 2 is set to begin production very soon but when can we expect to see new episodes from the HBO series? Unfortunately, it looks like we are going to wait for a fairly long time. Bella Ramsey just teased when the live-action adaptation will return and it sounds like the second season will not be returning later this year.
Bella Ramsey was recently a guest on The Jonathan Ross Show where she was asked when The Last of Us Season 2 will be released (via The Independent). The former Game of Thrones star revealed that fans will have to face a very long wait.
"It will be a while," Ramsey said. "I think we'll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next. So it'll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025."
This is an interesting update considering that Pedro Pascal had previously teased that The Last of Us Season 2 will begin filming soon.
"In the year 2023? Oh, what season are we in now? We're getting into spring? Yes, there is a chance. Yes," Pascal had said.
Either way, it's unlikely that the year will end without the second season starting production. Whether it is in spring or later at the end of the year, we're hoping to get filming updates as soon as Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal start working together again.
It's not unusual that the wait for The Last of Us Season 2 is going to be a long one considering that production could take some time. We're just happy that the series has been renewed for a second season and we'll get to catch up with Joel and Ellie again in the future. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
