The Last Jedi: John Boyega Was Worried About Not Having Scenes with Daisy Ridley

One of the smarter things Star Wars: The Last Jedi did was keep Finn and Rey separated for most of the movie. Both characters did show a lot of concern over each other, so seeing them reunite in the end was actually pretty heartwarming. Interestingly enough, John Boyega, the actor who portrays Finn, was actually worried about not having scenes with Daisy Ridley's Rey.

Finn's character arc mostly focused on his evolution from concerned friend to Rebel soldier. It's clear that Rian Johnson kept them apart for a reason since the two had to evolve and change in their paths. Still, Boyega did feel a bit uneasy about not reuniting with Ridley sooner in the film.

Here is what Boyega had to say during the BAFTA Q & A:

Yes, it was troubling and worrying. Because we went through a process together and we just expected to be together in this part of the franchise. And to find out we would be separated; my heart started beating a little bit. Because we have this support system and being in this position, me and Daisy, we vibe, we understand each other. We've been through the same process of first of all you're doing Morrison adverts and then the next year, you're in Star Wars. So, it's a surprising thing.

Thankfully, he had Kelly Mary Tran to work with. It will be interesting to see the fallout of that particular plot point, especially with Rey back in the fold. Hopefully, Poe Dameron won't mind losing out, though that could always change.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might still be in theaters. The film's home release date should be this year.
