The highly anticipated sequel to The Haunting of Hill House has just cast its first star and it's certainly a familiar face. Victoria Pedretti, who previously played Nell Crain in the Netflix series, will play a completely different yet equally tragic character in The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The news comes from Deadline, which confirms Pedretti has been cast as Dani, the governess who takes care of two young children in Bly Manor. She will also serve as the show's narrator.

Pedretti herself recorded a message announcing her involvement in The Haunting of Bly Manor, which was shared on the show's official Twitter account.

"Our incredible writing team is writing the new season right now and I'm so excited to get going. It will hit Netflix in 2020 and I think you're gonna love it," Pedretti said.

Pedretti might not be the only Hill House star who will return in the second season. It was previously reported that Carla Gugino is interested in playing a new role in The Haunting of Bly Manor. However, Gugino admitted that she and creator Mike Flanagan are still discussing their schedule. Hopefully, it will all work out so Pedretti and Gugino could work together on the sequel.

The Haunting of Bly Manor will serve as an adaptation of the 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw written by Henry James. Like Hill House, which gave Shirley Jackson's classic book a modern twist, the second season is expected to take place in the present.
