The Gang is Back in New Trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap

We were introduced to Columbus and his gang of survivors in Zombieland back in 2009, and 10 years later, we're finally getting a sequel to one of the most fun films in the genre. Just in, Sony has dropped the first trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap.

Here's the official description:

A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland 2: Double Tap. In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

I think it's funny that the trailer should also start by pointing out that all the main cast members are academy award nominees (save for Stone who actually won); it really is a testament to how far the cast has gone ever since the first film.

Besides the main cast, we also get to meet a bunch of new characters. Rosario Dawson is said to be playing Nevada who is said to be a love interest for Tallahassee. We also have Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch playing what looks to be mirrors of the original Columbus and Tallahasse duo. It would be funny if the two found their own Little Rock and Wichita.

I really loved the first film, and I'm hoping that this return to the world will be every bit worth the wait.

Catch Zombieland: Double Tap when it hits theaters Oct. 18.
