The DC Universe is bound to change forever now that the old regime is no longer overseeing long-term creative decisions for the franchise. Confirmed to undergo a reboot in 2025, the then-DCEU's rebirth will begin in the upcoming The Flash film starring Ezra Miller.

The anticipated project marks the official end of the SnyderVerse as well as Ben Affleck's final appearance as Bruce Wayne/Batman before the massive DCU shakeup commences. We all knew that Batfleck's days in the franchise were numbered but according to an intriguing new rumor, that may not have been the case after all.

According to insider Grace Randolph, The Flash's original ending would have set up the sequel where Bruce gets trapped in the multiverse and sends Barry an SOS to save him. This obviously indicates that initial plans called for Batfleck to remain in the DC Universe.

However, the idea was ultimately scrapped when James Gunn and Peter Safran assumed their positions as DC Studios co-CEOs late last year. It's also worth noting that the duo removed several more cameos from the film and ordered to shoot a different ending. Now, it remains unclear whether or not Affleck was able to film the supposed sequence.

Gunn recently confirmed that Affleck's tenure as the caped crusader will come to an end this year, with DC Studios looking to cast a new actor to play Batman in the "new" DCU. Hopefully, he'll be given a proper send-off that will at least keep fans of the old DCEU happy because frankly, Batfleck was one of the best parts of the SnyderVerse.

DC's The Flash is set for theatrical release on June 16, 2023.
