The DC Universe has been making waves over the last couple of weeks and it's pretty safe to say this is the most buzz the franchise has generated since its inception in 2013. This week, the DCU is once again making a lot of noise after a hot rumor circulated on social media surrounding the future of Batman as we head into the first chapter.

An intriguing report from tipster Grace Randolph says that apart from Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck, an old Batman actor will also appear in The Flash's ending scene. What's actually shocking is that Randolph claims the said actor could potentially stick around to serve as the DCU's main Dark Knight.

Naturally, names like George Clooney and Christian Bale surfaced as top candidates for the role but James Gunn already debunked the former's possible casting. Despite the ongoing rumors, it turns out that the studio is eyeing a brand new actor to play the coveted role.

Responding to a fan who asked if DC Studios will be relying on past actors for the role, Gunn finally put all the rumors to rest confirming that the DCU's Batman will be played by a new star. He didn't say which actor it will be though so we're still in the waiting game. Check out Gunn's tweet below:

As it stands, we still don't have a clue which actor could get cast as the DCU's Batman. It's worth noting though that Damian Wayne has been added to the mix so there's a good chance Gunn and Safran are looking at an actor who's in their mid to late 30s.

DC Studios' Batman: The Brave and the Bold is currently in development.
