After a good window of time with no updates for DCEU's The Flash, fans are finally getting some good movement for the movie.
A new leak care of the Reddit sub-community has tipped fans of the new development for the script, which include a possible hint to the main story:
"The script has been completed and approved after MANY drafts and rewrites. The studio has finally approved a very good script, with some calling it ‘a perfect coming of age story regarding a young man trying to control his power.' There have not been that much more conversation regarding this film, although they have been very excited."
The gist sounds about right, if we go by the way Barry Allen, portrayed by Ezra Miller, first encounters Bruce Wayne during the Justice League trailers. Apart from being a mouthy but moody character, he was first hesitant in revealing that he was the Scarlet Speedster (or would be, if the movie is about him grasping at and understanding his powers).
Of course, bear in mind that the leak is from a Reddit user @WBUT7 claiming to have gotten the information from Warner's offices. So best to take this as a rumor and with a huge grain of salt.
It does make me wonder--how will he effectively be The Flash in Justice League if his standalone story (which isn't an origin story) will follow the events of the ensemble movie? We already know Barry will don the suit, but perhaps he won't show off his powers if he'll have to grapple with it? Now that's certainly something to think about.
To date, the movie still doesn't have a director after Rick Famuyiwa's exit from the project. Recent rumors have pointed to the three names in the business in the running for the director's chair: Matthew Vaughn, Robert Zemeckis, and Sam Raimi.
Ezra Miller is still slated to portray the role, and we'll first see him don the suit in Justice League, which will hit theaters on Nov. 17.
