The Flash and Man of Steel 2 have 'Lost Momentum' with WB

The DCEU has a lot of films announced for their roster including Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds of Prey, but it looks like we may have to wait a bit more for films with two main Justice League members. News has it that the Man of Steel sequel as well as the Flash solo film have lost their ‘momentum' with WB.

This comes from Deadline who suspects that the reason for the delay could be the studio's desire to focus on more women-centric movies. With Wonder Woman being the only solid DC film to date, it would make sense for them to try and replicate that success with more women heroes.

Though I am up for more women-led films, I don't think it's a good move to suddenly just focus on them because Wonder Woman ‘worked' somehow. After all, I don't think WW just succeeded because it was a woman-lead movie. It worked because it was a good film. If they try to force out these Batgirl and Supergirl movies without the right story, then we could be looking at another misstep on WB's part.

For now, we haven't been getting any updates on Man of Steel 2, and it's the lack of updates that could be the reason why Henry Cavill has decided to start working on Netflix's The Witcher; it doesn't look like he's quit the role, he just doesn't have anything planned at the moment.

As for the Flash film, the movie has had a lot of problems with directors and getting the story right. We already have directors in the form of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, but now the film has taken a delay—prompting star Ezra Miller to just focus on his work with the third Fantastic Beasts film.

Will these movies come out eventually? With nothing announced, I suspect these films could be coming out after 2020.
