The First Trailer for IT: Chapter 2 Will Come Out This Week

The IT reboot managed to blow everyone away when it came out back in 2017, and Pennywise is ready to instill new fear with the sequel set to come out later this year. Just in, we have news that we could be getting our first look at the movie within the week.

Insider Daniel Richtman confirms that the trailer is going to be dropped on May 9—that's this coming Thursday. Of course, it's possible that the film could delay the release of the trailer, but with the movie set to come out in September, it would make sense for the marketing team to start promoting the film as early as now.

The story will follow the Losers Club 27 years since the events of the first movie, and they'll have to deal with the return of Pennywise once again. Admittedly the adult part of the book is considered the weaker side of the novel, but with the liberties taken in the first film, I'm sure director Andy Muschietti has plans to make this sequel stand out on its own. What are the odds they're actually building this up to be a trilogy with the third movie having Pennywise terrorize the kids of the Loser's Club?

IT: Chapter 2 stars James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, Andy Bean, and Isaiah Mustafa. The original child actors from the first film are also set to make a small appearance, which I think is only right since the success of the movie depended greatly on how likable the kids were.

Catch IT: Chapter 2 in theaters Sept. 6.
