WARNING! The following contains The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 1 SPOILERS! Proceed with caution! (Only the first episode is spoiled)
In the first episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, it is revealed that Bucky Barnes has been pardoned and has been attending therapy as a way to deal with his past. Although he no longer sees himself as The Winter Soldier, Bucky is still haunted by his actions and having nightmares of killing a bystander in an assassination mission.
Luckily, Bucky continues to deal with it and he even makes a friend in Yori, an older man who he defends from his own neighbor. Bucky meets with Yori for lunch and the older man even manages to get Bucky a date with a pretty waitress. However, Yori is also dealing with some pain as he shares with Bucky that he is still grieving the senseless death of his son.
It is later revealed that Yori is actually the father of the man that Bucky killed in his nightmare. With that in mind, it becomes clear that he is trying to make amends with Yori, who has no idea that his new friend killed his son. But will Yori play a larger role in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier?
For now, it looks like Yori will only be a minor character in the series. However, he could help Bucky deal with his guilt over his past sins. He may not be a character from the comic books but Yori's forgiveness could mean something for Bucky's growth.
