It can't be denied that Wyatt Russell landed the role of a lifetime as John Walker aka the "new" Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and so far, the actor is eliciting the right emotions from fans as more and more people despise his character as the series progresses. In fact, Wyatt even reportedly received death threats for playing Captain America in the hit Marvel show and that alone says a lot.

Admittedly, the son of acting legends Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn revealed that he didn't exactly grow up reading comic books and idolizing superheroes but he has a pretty valid motivation for joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and judging by his reason, he seems to be in touch with the fans.

In an interview with Esquire, Wyatt revealed that he knew fans would hate the character and that's the reason why he agreed to take on the role. He explains: "It's partly why I liked it. People were going to hate it. I knew it. That's the reason you do it. That's the point. You elicit that response and it's like, ‘Great, it's working.' I'm the kind of person where a gray area is a place that you must live. If you don't live there, you're going to have a very difficult time in your life trying to figure out who you are, because you're limiting the kinds of questions you can ask yourself and ask others. What this character hopefully brings to people is the idea that there's a gray area in him, and that in life, there are gray areas all around us every day."

Now, to those wondering if the character will be sticking around in Phase 4, last week's episode pretty much solidified that Walker will be a major player in the franchise's future and with the official debut of Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, we can expect an anti-Avengers team to make its presence felt in the MCU real soon. The real question is, which villains could end up joining the elite alliance?

The finale episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hits Disney+ this Friday.
