The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: How Many Episodes and When are They Released on Disney Plus?

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the second of the many limited series from Marvel Studios which will be released on Disney+, is set to have six episodes with varying run time spanning 30 to 50 minutes.

Happening after the events of Avengers: Endgame and possibly coexisting with the events of another limited series, WandaVision, in the world following the loss of some members of the Avengers, Sam Wilson aka The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) continues the legacy of Captain America with the Falcon carrying the iconic cap shield. With America's star-spangled hero getting old, it is unlikely that Old Man Rogers will still carry the shield as Old Cap considering his retirement in the end of Avengers: Endgame. In said event, it can be recalled that he passed the shield to Sam Wilson and Bucky seems to have approved it.

This leads to Sam and Bucky teaming up to fight for the same causes Captain America fought for: what is right and what is just. Joining the duo will be another character from the Captain America Trilogy, Sharon Carter aka Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp), niece of Steve Rogers' flame, Agent Peggy Carter. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be having old and new antagonists in Helmut Zemo (Daniel Bruhl), the Sokovian villain responsible for the events of Captain America: Civil War, and the anarchist group, Flag Smashers.

According to Anthony Mackie, filming the mini-series is like filming a whole movie but instead of a two-hour film, it is a film with six to eight hours chopped off in six parts. Marvel Studios Boss Kevin Feige reportedly became more hands-on in the development of each series where they get to explore deeper into the lives of the characters who will most likely play a larger role in the upcoming events in MCU as they dive into the Phase Four.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldierpremieres March 19, 2021 on Disney+.
