The Falcon Actor Anthony Mackie Breaks Silence on Chris Evans' MCU Return

Just when you thought it was time to look into a future without Steve Rogers, a bombshell report came in last week suggesting that Marvel Studios and Chris Evans are currently in negotiations for a brand new deal that would see him return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America.

The rumors quickly spread like wildfire and even Evans himself had to chime in after the news broke, although the 39-year-old actor would go on to dismiss his alleged return as the MCU's one and only star-spangled hero.

However, some fans weren't so thrilled about his potential return as they believe it would only do harm more than good. As surprising as it may sound, people are actually worried that Anthony Mackie would once again get sidetracked especially now that he's poised to become the next Cap in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

A week following the explosive news, Mackie finally addressed the rumors and although he didn't confirm nor deny anything, he looks pretty excited to see his good friend back in the franchise. Speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said: "Ya know, I've heard that. Like, I've seen that. And Look, Chris is my boy, so if they're getting the band back together, I'll be very happy with that."

I'm pretty sure there's a good reason why Marvel Studios wants Chris back to the fold and for now, all we have to do is trust their vision. Now, whether Evans returns as Old Man Steve or as his usual jacked-up super soldier self remains to be seen, and let's be real here, we've seen characters come, go, and return in the comics so I don't see why they can't pull off the same in the franchise.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier hits Disney+ this March.
