Marvel Fans Fear Anthony Mackie is Getting Sidetracked Following Chris Evans' Return

Avengers: Endgame pretty much marked the beginning of Sam Wilson aka The Falcon's journey to becoming the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Captain America and even Steve Rogers himself gave his blessing (and his shield) to his loyal ally. Now, there's no doubt that the upcoming MCU series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will revolve around Wilson's character transition from sidekick to the main hero.

However, it turns out that Chris Evans' days in the MCU aren't numbered and even though he "retired" the Captain America mantle in 2019, claiming that he's done with the billion-dollar franchise isn't done with the franchise, he's set for an epic comeback that could totally change the entire complexion of the MCU's fourth phase.

We reported last night that Evans is currently in negotiations with Marvel Studios to return as Steve Rogers in a mystery project. Evans would quickly dismiss the rumors on Twitter but we all know that he's just trying to cover it up in true Marvel fashion.

Apparently, fans of Anthony Mackie are taking issue with it and they are expressing their concern following the stunning development. Most of them are unhappy with Evans' return as they fear that it could sidetrack Mackie especially now that he's being groomed to become the new Captain America. Check out the tweets here:

I'm sure Marvel Studios has everything carefully planned out and they won't let Sam Wilson get sidetracked. We still don't know whether Evans would continue playing Old Man Rogers or not but I'm guessing he's sticking around to serve as Wilson's mentor. There's also the possibility of him reverting back to his old self before he went back in time to return the stones although that one defeats the purpose of him going back to live his best life with Peggy Carter. Everything's still a blur for now.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will drop on Disney+ this March.
