Ellie is quite a hard kid to crack because throughout her journey, she has always shown that her strong personality could pierce through any situation and mask her fears that lies deep within her. The Last of Us Episode 7, Left Behind, lays down the very event when she found out about her immunity.
How hard it is for the cruel world to give Ellie and Riley some time to enjoy for the last time, right? As soon as they figure out what their feelings are telling them, it is cut short by an infected who bit both of them, leaving them devastated, especially Ellie who had to live through it.
The ending of The Last of Us Episode 7 shows how Ellie would not even dare give up on Joel who was stabbed by a raider in the previous episode. Ellie knows that there is still hope for Joel's survival and it is reminiscent of what happened to her and Riley where Ellie was left with no choice.
