According to Crunchyroll, the official Twitter account of the anime has confirmed that the second season has already been green-lit. This was backed by the official announcement via the final broadcast in Japan.

No other details have been confirmed regarding the release date for the sequel. However, the teaser Twitter post did state that fans can while the time away by "watching Gintama" as they wait.

For those who have been keeping a close eye at Gintama's newly announced season, it's confirmed that the new season will air starting Jan. 9, 2017, making the winter lineup even better.

The staff will be announcing more details later—hopefully, one that will also include mangaka Shuichi Asou-sensei as well, who had tweeted that he also had no idea what the announcement had meant.

Personally, I love the little shout-out to Gintama. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K has the kind of humor that any Gintama fan would get easily get, despite being from different studios.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K tells about the misadventures of a high school boy who is anything but ordinary. An all-powerful psychic, he always seems above and beyond his classmates and parents, but not above the funny mishaps of his everyday life.
