The Different Titles of ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Around the World

It's not uncommon for films to have different titles overseas, seeing as sometimes things can get lost in translation. It's been recently revealed that Japan has re-translated the title of The Rise of Skywalker to be Dawn of Skywalker, and everyone else on Reddit has shared the other weird names of TROS in their countries.

Apparently, the movie is being called Skywalker: The Rise in Greece, and some have said that the Polish title for the movie is Skywalker: Odrodzenie which could translate to Skywalker: Rise or Skywalker: Reborn. The title in Hungary apparently translates to The Age of Skywalker, and Latin America has The Ascent of Skywalker.

Like I said, it's not really uncommon for movies to change titles, especially when direct translation could mean something different culturally. In fact, when Solo: A Star Wars Story came out in China, it was said that they changed the title to Ranger Solo as to steer away from the Star Wars title as The Last Jedi flopped when it came out.

Even by the original title, The Rise of Skywalker already seems kind of mysterious. We know that Luke dies in TLJ and Leia didn't even adapt the Skywalker name. So what could this mean for our characters? Does "Skywalker" become a title rather than a family name? Will Rey make a new order of Skywalkers instead of Jedi? Until we get some more info, all we can really do is guess.

Catch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters Dec. 20.
