Things are not going smooth for The CW's live-action adaptation of the Powerpuff Girls as their Blossom leaves the show and there is no replacement yet as to who would take on the role following the departure of Chloe Bennet.

In a report from Variety, Chloe Bennet, former Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the star previously announced to take on the role of Blossom in The CW's Powerpuff Girls Live-Action series left the show due to problems on schedules. As for Bubbles and Buttercup, Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault remain attached to the project. No other information was revealed as regards the departure of Bennett and who would replace her in the show.

The first look for the trio was already revealed in March 2021 and filming already started. However, by May, The CW decided not to push through with the pilot. During the press briefing, the CEO of The CW, Mark Pedowitz, explained that the Powerpuff Girls is a "powerful property" which should be treated right before it even releases.

Pedowitz also stressed the importance of pilot episodes stating, "the reason you do pilots is that sometimes things miss, and this was just a miss… We believe in the cast completely. We believe in Diablo [Cody] and Heather [Regnier], the writers. We believe in the auspices of Greg Berlanti and Warner [Bros. TV] studios."

In the case of the Powerpuff Girls, the pilot did not work and the executives promise to re-work it. Pedowitz said, "tonally, it might've felt a little too campy. It didn't feel as rooted in reality as it might've felt. But again, you learn things when you test things out. And so in this case, we felt, let's take a step back and go back to the drawing board."

With Bennett leaving the show, it leaves them Blossom-less, and such would definitely affect the production of the show with the role being one of the main characters. The CW has yet to announce who would be replacing Bennett in the series. This means that it would be less likely to have it released until next year or whether it will still push through.

The CW's Powerpuff Girls Live-Action series will be introducing the girls all grown up grappling with the fame they had when they were still kids as superheroes of Townsville. This fall, The CW would start searching for their new Blossom.

The cast of Powerpuff Girls live-action includes Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. Joining them would be the original narrator of The Powerpuff Girls, Tom Kenny, with Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum, and Nicholas Podany as Mojo Jojo Jr.
