Powerpuff Girls Fans Rejoice After Series Pilot Gets Scrapped

The upcoming reimagining of The Powerpuff Girls is something a lot of fans didn't see coming nor asked for but there's no doubt that CW is adamant about making it happen despite early criticism for the project from people who grew up watching the iconic Cartoon Network series. We reported yesterday that the live-action series is already experiencing major setbacks with its supposed pilot being scrapped and according to CW CEO Mark Pedowitz, the one they came up with just didn't click.

Pedowitz also shared that the supposed debut episode of the series was "too campy" and there's no other way for them than to go back to the drawing board instead of risking another nuclear backlash. "Tonally, it might've felt a little too campy. It didn't feel as rooted in reality as it might've felt. But again, you learn things when you test things out. And so in this case, we felt, let's take a step back and go back to the drawing board."

Now, fans of the beloved cartoon series which ran from 1998 to 2005 are reacting to the news of the live-action show getting "reworked" and it's safe to say that majority of the PPG fandom felt relieved with the latest development. Some of them even expressed their happiness after learning that the pilot isn't going to hit screens anytime soon after an alleged script for the pilot leaked all over social media. As someone who grew up adoring the original cartoon, I gotta tell you, I was never sold with the idea of The Powerpuff Girls getting taken to the live-action stage. The CW is basically taking away the charm of the show and all the things that made the original cartoon work in the first place. The project was doomed to fail from the beginning and they should've just listened to the initial backlash it received and canceled the show altogether.

No word yet as to when The Powerpuff Girls will drop its premiere episode.
