Now, it looks like the network is officially looking for a lesbian actress to play the part of Kate Kane in its Batwoman television series. According to a report by TVLine, sources say that the CW is hoping to feature a version of Kate closely based on the modern run in the comic book source material, and that modernity includes the vigilante's sexual orientation. Though the studio hasn't let out a list of names yet, sources say that the Batwoman series' are looking to cast a lesbian actress for Kate's role on the small screen.

Of course, fans won't have to wait for the CW to bring out those names of potential Batwoman actresses. Word has it the network is planning to introduce the vigilante this fall along when all the different existing CW superhero series come together for their yearly crossover episode, so the CW needs to start those auditions for the role.

Batwoman is currently in development and is reportedly set to air sometime in 2019.
