There's going to be a major storyline for Mark, according to The Conners Season 5 showrunners.
Mark, played by Ames McNamara, is a prominent character in The Conners. Darlene Conner (Sara Gilbert) and her ex-husband David Healy are his parents (Johnny Galecki, who left the series after Season 2).
Major storyline for Mark in The Conners Season 5
Mark's plotline in Season 4 followed him into his freshman year at a magnet high school, where he began taking contrabassoon lessons. This is related to the fact that his family cannot afford to send him to college, so his mother suggested he take up the uncommon instrument because colleges are more ready to grant scholarships to band members with less mainstream skills.
Mark's narrative is anticipated to get even more problematic when he enters his sophomore year of high school following Darlene's remarriage in The Conners Season 4 finale.
Showrunners Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan revealed The Conners Season 5 storylines to CinemaBlend. Caplan mentioned throughout the chat that Mark will have a major storyline in the forthcoming season. As the episode focuses on one major subject: "Is one of this family gonna actually escape the orbit of poverty?"
Here’s what Caplain said:
The show has been on the air for several years, following the cancellation of Roseanne Barr from the Roseanne reboot due to a string of racist Twitter comments. Following this, The Conners was recast to focus on the rest of the family, with John Goodman as Dan Conner and Laurie Metcalf as Jackie Harris-Goldufski.
The Conners Season 4 finale aired on May 18, and there are already plans for further episodes. ABC revealed The Conners Season 5 on May 12.
