The Clone Wars Trailer May Have Created A Major Star Wars Plothole

Lucasfilm released the first trailer for the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars yesterday, and everyone's hyped for the new episodes to premiere.

Not only did the video tease epic space battles and lightsaber fights, but it also teased the confrontation between Ahsoka and Darth Maul. However, as epic as the trailer is, Star Wars fans couldn't help but notice one little problem with the video.

In one of the more intimate scenes in the trailer for the seventh season of The Clone Wars, fans get to see Anakin Skywalker trying to hold a hologram of Padme, reminding everyone of the love that the couple shared before the Jedi turned to the Dark Side. It's a pretty tender moment, however, some fans believe that the scene creates problems for Star Wars canon.

Pointing out that Padme appears very much pregnant in the hologram in the trailer, meticulous fans remind others that this can't be possible because Padme was only able to reveal her pregnancy to Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. Anakin shouldn't know about Padme's pregnancy in The Clone Wars – it wouldn't really fit the timeline of Star Wars canon.

Could The Clone Wars have created a plothole? Or perhaps this hologram scene plays parallel to the events of The Revenge of the Sith after Padme let Anakin know that she was pregnant? That would make more sense, really. We'll just have to wait to find out.

Season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars premieres February 21, 2020.
