The Clone Wars' Sam Witwer Recalls That Time He Jumped Out Off a Window in Riverdale

Riverdale sure is a weird show huh? Taking characters from the classic Archie Comics, the show twists them and gives us some of the oddest moments in television history. The show has tackled everything from cults to vigilantes, and so much more, often taking everything to the max and then some. Sam Witwer, who most of us associate as Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, has decided to reflect on a ridiculous moment he had to take part in for the show.

On November 19, Witwer's Mr. Chipping took part in one of the show's many infamous moments as he jumped out of a window and died. At the time, Witwer had no idea why they made his character do this but rolled with it because it was what the people in production wanted. While it was later revealed that Mr. Chipping committed suicide because he couldn't save Jughead, Witwer didn't know that and was never informed of it as he revealed in an interview with io9.

"As for why that character jumps out a window, I have no idea. But I read the script and laughed. I was like, ‘Right, of course. Of course he does.' I'd love to say I had deep thoughts about the whole thing, but I don't think that's really the way they work over there."

Witwer is thankful that he doesn't have to appear there anymore since the actor doesn't like doing stupid things like this without knowing his character's motivations. Sadly, anyone who has seen an episode of Riverdale knows that the show loves to milk its shocking moments and keep everyone in suspense. Turns out that goes to the actors as well.

Riverdale airs on The CW and is later seen on Netflix.
