Just in time for the film’s US release, The Boy and the Heron's theme song, Spinning Globe, by Kenshi Yonezu just got an official music video.
The new MV was shared on Yonezu’s official YouTube channel. Instead of being a live-action short film-style music video like Yonezu’s other works, this one features a collection of snippets from Miyazaki’s latest movie.
Because of this, you can treat this new MV as a sort of extra-long trailer for the film ahead of its US cinema run.
Miyazaki's Next Film Is Finally Coming to US Cinemas Soon
Hayao Miyazaki is a legendary anime director who co-founded Studio Ghibli and directed works such as Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Princess Mononoke.
Miyazaki was supposed to retire after his 2013 film The Wind Rises, but his plans changed. He returned some years after to work on The Boy and the Heron, which was finally released in Japanese cinemas in July 2023.
Following its Japanese theatrical run, fans from all over the world eagerly awaited the film’s international release. Finally, GKIDS confirmed that it is bringing the film to US theaters this week.
For the film’s US release, The Boy and the Heron will have English subtitles and English dub options. The movie’s English dub features lots of big-name stars such as Robert Pattinson and Christian Bale.
Before its cinema release in the US, The Boy and the Heron was screened in various prestigious film festivals across the world. These include film festivals in San Sebastian and Toronto.

The Boy and the Heron – Spinning Globe Gets Official Music Video
The new Miyazaki film’s theme song is titled Spinning Globe by Kenshi Yonezu, the popular Japanese singer behind the opening theme of Chainsaw Man.
Yonezu had a big 2023. Aside from performing the theme song for The Boy and the Heron, he was also tapped to compose and perform the ending theme of Final Fantasy 16.
Even though Yonezu’s Ghibli song has been out for months now, it has only received a proper music video now. You can check it out here:
This video features lots of new scenes that have never been shared in trailers yet. But even with the numerous new snippets, the music video doesn’t contain spoilers for the movie, meaning it should be safe to watch.
The Boy and the Heron is coming to US cinemas later this week on December 8.
