The Book of Boba Fett Teases Tatooine 'Power Vacuum' After Jabba's Death

We already know that Boba Fett is taking charge of Jabba the Hutt's palace in The Book of Boba Fett but taking control of Tatooine is not going to be easy. Jon Favreau has just pointed out that Jabba's death led to a "power vacuum" on the planet and everyone wants to be in power.

In the previous season finale of The Mandalorian, we got to see a tease at what will happen in Boba Fett's standalone series. Boba and Fennec Shand made their way to Jabba's palace and quickly dispatched Bib Fortuna. While it was easy for them to get rid of Bib, the rest of Tatooine is going to be a lot trickier.

Favreau recently spoke to Empire as part of the magazine's The Book of Boba Fett issue. The co-creator pointed out that things have changed on Tatooine after Jabba's death.

“There is a power vacuum,” Favreau said, “because Jabba is gone. Jabba was clearly a very strong and imposing leader, who people were very scared of, and who seemed to rule with an iron fist. You pull somebody like that out of the ecosystem of Tatooine – and Hutt Space in general – and you have the opportunity that’s ripe in the gangster genre.”

We all know what happened to Jabba and to be honest, we're quite happy that he's gone. After all, this means Boba now has the chance to change things on Tatooine, hopefully for the better. However, it will not be easy considering that the other crime lords will be vying for power as well. Let's just hope that Boba has the right plan for the planet.

The Book of Boba Fett will star Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen, and Jennifer Beals. The series will premiere on Disney+ on December 29, 2021.
