The unprecedented triumph of The Mandalorian paved the way for Lucasfilm to expand the Star Wars franchise through streaming, but not everything they've put out has achieved the same level of success.
Take for instance The Book of Boba Fett which pretty much served as Season 2.5 of The Mandalorian. While the show had tremendous potential, it wasn't able to surpass or even replicate what Mando accomplished.
There have been rumors about the show getting a Season 2 but actor Temuera Morrison is uncertain if it could come to fruition.

Temuera Morrison Remains Unsure if The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 Will Actually Happen
Speaking with New Zealand outlet Newshub, Morrison gave a discouraging update on the show's Season 2 renewal. While the actor says that fans he spoke to all clamor for a second season, he doesn't know what Lucasfilm's actual plans are.
The Star Wars icon said: "I don't know what's going on there. We're coming out of this downtime period so I think everyone is just settling back in and it all goes back to budgets and what they want to do and how much the thing costs. I really don't know. Judging by the fans I've met, they all want a season two, but I don't know what's going to happen."
Morrison has expressed his desire to continue playing Boba, potentially in a follow-up series. He even spoke about wanting to see the famed bounty hunter return to his "badass ways" but it seems like Lucasfilm has no plans of pulling the trigger on a second season.

When you think about it though, The Book of Boba Fett was seemingly designed to be a limited series and the series already accomplished what it needed to do, and that is bring clarity to the character's post-Return of the Jedi journey.
And considering the lukewarm reception it got from the fandom, it doesn't really warrant a Season 2 renewal. That's not to say though that we've seen the last of Boba because there's a strong possibility he'll turn up in the MandoVerse crossover film.
