It can't be denied that the massive success and popularity of The Mandalorian paved the way for Lucasfilm to explore more stories set within the "Mandoverse" timeline all leading up to the sequel trilogy. The epic Season 2 finale of the hit Disney+ series gave Star Wars fans a little preview of what's to come and the next chapter in the Mandoverse is expected to put the spotlight on the beloved bounty hunter Boba Fett.

However, in a stunning new development, there may be a good chance that the upcoming series The Book of Boba Fett won't be treated as a separate show and according to a new report, the series which marks Temuera Morrison's full-time return to the franchise will instead serve as a continuation of The Mandalorian's ongoing story.

Collider reports that with Obi-Wan affecting The Mandalorian Season 3's production, also threatening to push back its premiere to late 2022 in the process, the situation has left Lucasfilm without a choice but to treat The Book of Boba Fett as "Season 2.5" of the Pedro Pascal-led series so expect notable characters from the Mandoverse to show up in the upcoming series.

It's a smart strategy on Lucasfilm's part when you think about it but with The Book of Boba Fett being labeled as The Mandalorian Season 2.5, I can't help but feel a little worried that the series might take away main the focus from Fett himself in favor of Din Djarin. Hopefully, that's not going to be the case.

The Book of Boba Fett will hit Disney+ this December.
