The Batman's Andy Serkis Weighs Age-Old Question: Marvel or DC?

Andy Serkis has made it to both ends of the spectrum and his most recent film appearance is on The Batman where he would be playing an important role in the life of the titular character, as Alfred Pennyworth. For Marvel, he played the role of Ulysses Klaue who appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Black Panther, and voiced the character in What If…? Serkis also directed a Marvel film under Sony with Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

When asked in an interview with Stephen Colbert, Serkis was put in the position to tell the world whether he is a Marvel guy or a DC one, he said, "I was just thinking, 'Who's gonna employ me the most after this moment?'"

Serkis pointed out what he loved most in both franchises, "Look, I love both worlds... I love the brightness and the boldness of Marvel stories. They're all mythologies. And I do like the darkness of DC.” Serkis added, "They touch on real human emotions, on world events, on what's going on around us. They are great allegories for our times."
