The Batman: Robert Pattinson is Excited That People are Doubting His Casting

Robert Pattinson had been the face of the Twilight franchise, and after several years of trying to shake off that fame, he has somehow been cast as the new Batman for WB. No doubt there are a lot of people who aren't too happy with his casting, but that's apparently what Pattinson likes about landing the role.

Talking to The LA Times, Pattinson reveals that the pressure that he's going through when it comes to playing Batman is making the role all the more exciting. He says:

"There's a different feeling when you're doing something which you know there's a big built-in audience for, an expectation from the audience. It's kind of fun sometimes to feel that pressure. I love doing something which is quite unusual and trying to help it find its audience as well. There's this battle sometimes, especially when people really doubt, really, really don't want to see you [in the role]. It's quite galvanizing. And particularly there's something about Batman. It's always been very attractive to me."

Admittedly, casting for Batman is rarely received well when it comes to the fanbase. No one was sure how Michael Keaton would do when he was cast as Batman, and everyone threw a fit when it was announced that Ben Affleck would take on the role. I'm sure that Pattinson is just ready to wow everyone with this next film, and I can't wait to see all the haters change their minds.

For now, we wait for the release of Matt Reeves Batman. The cast has grown to include the likes of Colin Farrell, Paul Dano, and Zoe Kravitz, and production is set to begin early next year. Let's hope we don't have to wait too long before we get an official look at the cast.

Catch The Batman when it hits theaters June 25, 2021.
