Watchmen Showrunner on What He Wants to See From a Dark Knight Returns Movie

HBO's Watchmen has ended and fans are now wondering if there will be a second season. Damon Lindelof, the show's showrunner, claimed that he wanted to make a self-contained story, and though he succeeded in some levels, there are definitely things that can be explored for a second season. As we wait for news on a possible second season, Collider has decided to ask if Lindelof would consider directing a movie based on The Dark Knight Returns, another DC graphic novel many consider to be revolutionary.

Interestingly enough, Lindelof feels like he wouldn't want to make a Dark Knight movie since it would essentially be an adaptation and the showrunner doesn't just want to make a basic adaptation since there's so little to improve on. We wish someone told Frank Miller that when he started making Dark Knight sequels but hey, that's the world we live in.

That being said, Lindelof did admit that it would be awesome if a veteran Batman actor were to play this version of the character. After all, we would care for the character if we know the actor has played this hero before. It did wonders for Logan, I'll tell you that.

"I think it would be really interesting to wait for somebody like, you know, Michael Keaton, who has already done Batman, or a Christian Bale 25 years from now and then do Dark Knight with them. So, it's someone who we actually saw play a younger version of Batman. That would be rad."

Considering how many times DC has reprinted The Dark Knight Returns, not to mention the fact that there's already an animated version of this classic, it wouldn't be far-fetched to assume that we'll eventually see this story adapted into the big screen. Personally, I'm fine with graphic novel and animated movies.

The Dark Knight Returns is now available on most comic book stores.
