It may have taken a while, but it looks like Matt Reeves' The Batman is finally picking up steam. After the multiple reveals for the film yesterday, we finally have an official release date for the movie.

According to Variety, Reeves' The Batman is set to come out June 25, 2021. Interestingly enough, the only other DCEU movie set to come out in the same year is James Gunn's Suicide Squad 2 which is set for a release Aug. 6, 2021.

Reeves has confirmed that his Batman movie will focus more on the detective aspect of the character and will follow Batman attempting to solve some kind of mystery. He's said that multiple villains are set to appear in the movie, and one guess for the main antagonist is either Hush or the Court of Owls.

What should probably come as a bummer to a lot of people is also the fact that Ben Affleck will not be returning to play the Caped Crusader. The movie is said to be focusing on a younger Batman, which means that they have to cast someone who can play a young Batfleck. Personally, I'm still holding out that Batfleck will return when DC makes a movie that will take place in the present timeline with the likes of Aquaman and Wonder Woman already existing in the world.

Personally, I'm getting tired of all these period piece solo films. I mean, Wonder Woman was enough, but the sequel has to be set in the 80s? Move forward, DC!

The Batman comes out June 25, 2021.
